I have a lot of friends who do bands, visual art, labels, record bands and put on shows. I often find myself talking to them and catching up with what they are up to, but I find Facebook has killed off a lot of these conversations from going into a great deal of depth. Instead of having these…
Hey so I started another blog called Run Thick in the Night to document conversations with friends and acquaintances about their music, art and other creative pursuits and so on. I wrote a little hello message on there today and will hopefully have some conversations up soon. If you are a pal who wants to talk about your art, band etc get in touch with me.
You like dogs? If you answered no to that you fucking suck. Seriously what the hell is wrong with you? Dogs and cats are basically the best byproduct of our cruel and heartless subjugation of loving mother nature.
But you know, they’re more than just furry little possessions. They’re members of the family. The ones you actually love unlike your siblings you feign interest in or smother the violent disdain for. Four legged sick cunts that shine a ray of awesome in your life. Tell me you haven’t sat there and watched a dog attacking a sock, wondering what the hell was going on in that fuzz little head, as enthralled as someone who’s half a bowl deep into the BBC series Planet Earth. Oh yeah? You’re fucking lying.
The point that pets are awesome and they deserve to be treated with love, care, and awesomeness and being somewhat new to the whole pet thing I didn’t realise just how fucking bafflingly dense and complex the information is out there regarding them. Seriously, you thought arguments over true bypass vs buffer in your ts808 style pedal were intense? That shit is nothing son. Like musical equipment there are lots of opinions out there on pet care, and like those opinions that aren’t mine, a lot of them are disingenuous or downright wrong.
If you know my incredibly talented girlfriend Allie, you know how absolutely spazz she is for dogs. If we’re driving anywhere and we pass a dog she’ll stop mid sentence to make some comment on it before resuming where she left off. She knows all the local hounds up for adoption and keeps track of their fates. She has an entire language of weird non-words which she uses to talk to dogs and they seem to understand it, it’s FUCKING WEIRD DUDE. When we were in Laos she had to stop to talk to and pat almost every street dog we came across, and she didn’t once get rabies. SHE TAUGHT MAGGIE TO FIST BUMP. She posts on a whole bunch of internet forums about dogs and none of them are weird or sexual (thank christ). She goes to the park near her house and all the regulars are excited to see her, pups and people, because she just knows dogs and loves them. And dogs recognize it and love her back.
So she’s started Maggie’s Farm. It’s a website for dog owners and prospective dog owners that synthesizes information, presents the facts, discussions and controversies without bias or heavy-handed generalisations but with just a craptonne of info about how to look after that pantsless love factory (co-incidentally this is the ladies nickname for me amirite) in your life. Cuz those little dudes deserve looking after.
If you’ve got a dog, if you’re interested in getting a dog, or just like reading about dogs check out Maggie’s Farm. If you’ve got questions email her. If you’ve got cute photos email them. You won’t find anyone more passionate about the well being of your puppy.
